Last we left off the saga of Wellcare, a Florida bureau was investigating Wellcare. That bureau just happened to be run by Dr. Andy Agwunobi who was most recently an employee of WellCare
First, let's review the saga that is Wellcare. There is Dr. Andrew Agwunobi. Dr. Andy Agwunobi came to Wellcare with what I would call questionable credentials. You can read more in my previous post.
He stayed at Wellcare for only six months. After six months he cashed out for a million bucks and went to work at AHCA. This is a Florida bureau that specializes in providing quality health care to poor folks. He is of course the head person in charge of the bureau. Well, nine months after he left WellCare, cashed out a million bucks, his bureau was one of several that participated in a raid on his previous employer.
Well, now,
Pharma Fraud is reporting about another politician with questionable ties to WellCare. This politician is Sandy Murman. She is the former state rep, former Wellcare lobbyist, and now she is running for another state office.
She tried to concurrently lobby for Wellcare and serve on the Hillsborough County Health Care Board. This is of course a total conflict of interest since Wellcare was bidding for a significant County contract and the board she was serving on had great influence in determining who got the contract.
If you read the Pharma Fraud piece, it seems Murman can't decide if Wellcare has been involved in malfeasance or not. In one interview she suggests that there is some hanky panky, and in a subsequent interview with the exact same station, she is SHOCKED, SHOCKED, I say that her former employer would be involved in any wrongdoing.
Let's review the ramifications of this story. Dr. Andrew Agwunobi has some explaining to do. Sandy Murman is herself a Republican and also has some explaining to do. The people that hired Dr. Agwunobi have some explaining to do and so far every politician is related to the Republican party.
Let's review. The party that won the White House the last two years won Florida. Florida was either close or really, really, really, really, you get the idea close. A scandal that involves the party in charge maybe enough to swing Florida, and Florida should be enough to swing the Presidency.
